Not a man to be missed, Mark Thompson, known far and wide as “Bushy” has a tale or three to be retold from his 44 years of “swagmans” life roaming the length and breadth of Australia.
Bushy is a man of many words and has spent 53 years of performing bush poetry across Australia and was the Peoples Choice at the Slim Dusty Music Festival.
“I started writing when I was a little fella cause I was always surrounded by bush and that old wireless radio with a piece of copper for an antenna. We were always sitting around a campfire somewhere and the ABC country hour would play from the radio. It’s those voices and those stories that I listened to that got me into poetry and singing and that’s when I started writing about the bush.”
Bushy will be performing June 13th and 14th at Hotel Cunnamulla from 6.30pm. Drop on in and say g’day, raise a glass or two and be wonderfully entertained by one of the very best.
